Our Story

I went to Honduras for the first time in June 2007 with a sign language team that spent various days volunteering with Worldwide Heart to Heart Ministries and Eternal Family Project. God used a little girl named Gaby to call me back to Honduras the following December and Summer 2008. It was that summer, on June 27th to be exact, that I met Marvin Ramos, my best friend and husband.

We were at a church (the best place to meet one's true love) on a Friday night and played soccer in the street afterwards. I left Honduras on the 3rd of July, and my mom picked me up from the airport. On the way home to Chattanooga, I told her that I may have met my future husband. At that point, I spoke English, he spoke Spanish and we were living over 1000 miles apart.

As we gradually learned, love has no boundaries and nothing, NOTHING is impossible with God. The Lord truly does answer our prayers according to his will and his timing. Marvin had seen me worship with the sign language group in 2007, wanted to talk to me, but said that I was talking to everyone else. Since he couldn't talk to me that night, he told me that he just had to pray that I would return. My prayers for Marvin started in 2004, when the Lord first began calling me to overseas mission work. I always hoped to be married with a family, but thought no guy would ever be crazy enough to go along with the plans God had for me. So, I prayed. I asked that God provide me with a husband that had a heart for missions, would live overseas, and that spoke Spanish. Well, the Lord provided a young man that is more incredible than I could have ever imagined and I thank him everyday for the relationship that has developed between Marvin and me.

"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." -Jeremiah 29:11

We committed our lives to God and to each other on December 11, 2010. The wedding was just the start to an incredible journey with the Lord. Since then, we have each experienced significant amounts of change and growth. Marvin has worked diligently and is becoming a leader for me and many others. I graduated with my nursing degree in 2013. We spent 5 months in Honduras later that year serving others and searching for God's plans. May 15, 2014 we welcomed our first son into the world. Thomas Orlando Ramos arrived on Marvin's 26th birthday!

5/15/2014 Happy BIRTHday to Thomas and Marvin!

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6

God's plans are so much greater than our own and as he continues to reveal those plans to us we will share them with you and ask that you join us in prayer and discernment.

Blessings and Love,
Karen Ramos
