Beauty in Creation

There are many beautiful places in this world, and Honduras is certainly one. Marvin is from Las Flores (The Flowers) in the Santa Barbara region. There is so much natural beauty in this village that words cannot describe. So, here are some pictures of some of the flowers growing there. The flowers, the mountains, and the people are all so beautiful! God's creation is brilliant!

Piñata

Many churches and organizations find it challenging to bring people together in a community. Marvin and I have faced this challenge while working with Hixson UMC. We are constantly looking for creative ways to be involved in the community and meet more people. While visiting Las Flores, we learned that this is not an issue there as long as you have a piñata.

We asked Marvin's sister Leidy to invite some kids over to play with the piñata. She ran down the dirt path excited to include friends, cousins, and neighbors in this rare experience. Soon she returned home with many children and their parents.

It was great to meet more families in the area and see the parents' laugh and smile as their children were able to participate in the fun. We don't know what our outreach will be like in the future, but I am sure this was not our last piñata.

Sharing with Neighbors

What a great week in Honduras! We were gone May25th to June 2nd with Ben, Kathryn, Wil, and Jane. One of our most meaningful experiences was meeting families in Tegucigalpita and distributing donations with the help of 9 children from Heart to Heart.

We wanted the children to have a chance to serve their neighbors. It was amazing to see how quickly the children were able to connect with these families that live within a few miles of the children's home. The living conditions that many of these families endure is almost unimaginable, but we hope that the time and gifts shared will be an encouragement to each of them.

Please pray for the families that we served and the children that are learning how to share Christ's love with a broken world.

Blessings and Love,
