February Update

As we returned to life in Honduras and Manuel and Josué joined us in Pa Blanca, we were hoping to settle into a routine. A routine where Thomas would have a few less break downs, Joanna would take longer naps, Marvin would have plenty of time for projects, and I could get organized around the house. We also hoped this routine would give Manuel and Josué the chance to study without any distractions. Well, we never settled into a routine and likely won't, but we do share laughter each day and are growing closer to God and one another.

One attempt at a routine is returning to our nightly check-ins and Bible study. We finished the book of Acts and have started on the book of Philippians. Last night, we read this scripture:

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
- Philippians 4:4-7

Over this last month, I have certainly had many ups and downs, but more importantly, I have felt God's PEACE! Some of the low points were dealing with my own emotions, Joanna having a scary crying fit, learning that a mother and daughter that lived near our previous home were murdered, and electrical issues in the home. Certainly the loss of lives was the most heartbreaking! Rather than being anxious, the scripture above calls us to come to God  with thanksgiving- not just desperately asking him to fix our problems, but THANKING HIM! So despite our low points, I have many things to thank him for- the perfect location of our new home, getting to know people in the community, Manuel and Josué's constant joy (and their commitment to their studies), time with Gaby from Eternal Family Project, many welding opportunities for Marvin, both kids sleeping through the night, a great husband, a loving church family, God's provision, opportunities for Manuel and Josué to teach at the Home of Blessing feeding program, sharing from our abundance with others, Joanna's dedication, reconnecting with friends, and so much more!

I hope that you too can rejoice with us in the hope and peace that God provides!

Joanna is getting stronger! Praise God!
